Welcome everyone!
Ah, to introduce myself. Somehow I feel like a writer trying to find a catchy intro for his/her book. Hard is what this is!
My name is Bie. And I am seriously addicted to makeup. (I might be a little bit addicted to online shopping as well, but that's a different story)
It all started when I was a little girl. Watching my Mom every morning putting on her makeup to go to work - the foundation, the blush, eyeliner, ... It all seemed magical. It was like looking at a painter working on his next masterpiece.
Finally when I was 14, I was allowed to wear makeup to school. Praise all that is good and holy! Finally, makeup on my own face. A whole new world came to life.
Offcourse I had to temper my enthousiasm a bit, I mean, I was 14, there were some limits as to what my parents allowed me to 'draw' on myself.
Years and lots of make up went by and then comes year 2014.
The wonderful and magical year of 2014!
I was a newly engaged woman (yes, after 7 years he finally proposed) and I decided I wanted to do my own makeup at my wedding. My best friend (who also happened to be my maid of honor) and I enrolled in a basic makeup course at the Schoonheidsschool in Antwerp. We had no idea what to expect, but thought it might be fun to go to class every tuesday night and see what all the hype was about. Giddy like a couple of teenage schoolgirls, we got all our supplies at the local store and off we went to class. Boy o Boy, were we in for a treat.
Lucky for us, we had the most amazing teacher (Lisa). She taught us all the tips and tricks one can teach in 5 short weeks. We ended the course with our final 'Bridal Makeup Exam' and went home with our newfound degree.
Offcourse, I eventually decided I wanted to be pampered on my wedding day, so Lisa ended up doing my makeup and how b e a utiful did I look. (Forever grateful to her for this)
After a little while I missed going to Beautyschool and I did not want this degree to go to waste, so I started surfing online. I became a member of some Facebook groups for photographers, models and MUA's (makeup artists). Surprisingly there are lots and lots of groups on this topic. Again, I fell into a whole new world. The world of photoshoots. I realized this is what I was meant to do. Trying out new things. Getting a theme presented to you by the model or photographer and creating your own little masterpiece. Getting a look at the finished product is worth the work and stress.
And now, I decided I wanted to start a blog. I love trying out new makeup and would love to share my opinion on all of this. Offcourse, I would also like to share some of my work with all of you.
Hope you enjoy my blog and if you are ever interested in working with me, don't hesitate to send me a message.
Lots of love, Bie xoxo
